Meet Audrey Hamilton

Background

Audrey Hamilton was born into a family of musicians and began singing at a young age. She grew up playing the flute and singing in school choirs. Originally from Burnaby BC, Audrey has honed her vocal and instrumental skills at the Victoria Conservatory of  Music, studying Contemporary & Classical music performance in the rigorous post-secondary program. Audrey Hamilton has blossomed into an exciting performer with a passion for creating memorable heartfelt experiences for her audiences.

Musical Style

Audrey Hamilton is inspired by many styles of music and by many different artists. She has performed a wide variety of music ranging from rock and jazz to classical song and opera during her training. Audrey has been inspired in her songwriting is by storytelling artists like Dolly Parton, Chris Stapleton, Stevie Wonder, James Taylor, Alicia Keys, and Lainey Wilson. Through her powerful voice and unusually emotive performances, magically combining these diverse styles, Audrey strives to send a positive and meaningful message out into the world at large.

Accomplishments

Over the course of her training, Audrey Hamilton has received several prestigious Scholarships including the "Vanhall Fund For The Arts ~ Jazz" Scholarship in recognition of her talent and of the dedication that she has shown in her studies and during her apprenticeship as a professional artist. She has won awards in both Classical & Contemporary voice competitions at the Victoria Conservatory of Music, and was recently spotlighted on the VCM social media page singing her original composition "Speak My Truth" which she was invited to perform at the 2024 VCM Awards Ceremony in the Alix Goolden Performance Hall. Additionally, Audrey performed the role of the Spinning Fate for the acclaimed 2024 Opera Quest production "The Soldier and The Sea" composed by Colin Doroschuk, and was also engaged to sing Canada's national anthem at the 2024 Victoria Canada Day Celebration in front of the Legislature.
